ITV have announced some changes to the original show, and will apparently be a lot more fast paced. Was there anything wrong with the original? My dad bought me my first mobile phone (when I was about 9) for getting 3 questions right in a row! What are the best formats for game shows...is it only worth it if you're gonna win a lot of money!? |

I can't remember the name of the show but it was on Channel 4. Every week there was a couple who were basically 'on the run' during the week and hope not to be 'spotted' by their chasers. If I remember right each day they did this they won a cash prize. On the final day they had to pick a phone box to stand in and not move during the whole tv show which was live with the public being asked to 'rat them out' if they saw them. If the tracker doesn't find them then they win.
Hard to explain but very good viewing. It's popularity was it's undoing because it almost became impossible to hide in the live show.

I do think who wants to be a millionaire is one of the best gameshows. However, as it has been on for 12 years I suppose it is in need of a bit of a revamp - just hope they don't spoil it. I think a lot of people like gameshows where people can lose a lot of money as well as win (says something about human nature I suppose)

I think Tarrant should be kept on for as long as he wants to stay, hes the face of millionaire! i think in game shows there has to be an element of danger otherwise there wouldn't be any tension or drama which is half the fun!

Yeah Chris Tarrant should definately stay. I don't particularly like the bloke but he hosts the show well. If they are changing the format and changing the presenter they might as well just have a completely new show and get rid of millionaire altogether.

I absolutely agree with total that Tarrant is the face of Millionaire.
But if we want some new jeopardy for the contestants, Tarrant should bring back some of his old pals. Can you imagine trying to answer the million pound question with the Phantom Flan Flinger and Spit the Dog hassling you?!

Or how about a new life line. Contestants can have a friend in the audience who cough's when they read the right answer out!

I was going to mention him. They made a documentary about that bloke. How disgusting that he would have actually made some money from being a ****!

See now, I've got a peculiar perspective on it. Setting aside the fact that what they actually did was pretty feeble, pretty crap, and ineffective, I'm not so sure they're the villains they were made out to be. I mean, it's a quiz show, a game played for entertainment on the tv. It's not as if they tried to mug an old lady, they tried to put one over on Celador.
I'm not saying they were right, I'm just saying they're hardly the evil clan they were depicted as.

I see your point. They were pi**ocks though, eh?
I mean, if you really MUST try to fiddle a major TV corporation, on recorded media, in front of a live audience and millions of viewers, at least don't be sh*t at it! |

They so nearly got away with it aswell! I watched the episode when it was on...but really, shouldnt they watch them before they go on air to check up on such things. They may have fiddled the system, but ITV failed to ensure it didnt happen!
My aunt got to the final 3 in the weakest link years ago, its one of the only times ive watched the show and it was awful! I think recent game show concepts are not as good as the old ones. Cant beat Generation game on a saturday tea time! |

I didn't realise they actually aired that show before the fiddle attempt was discovered?
You're so right about the Generation Game. As long as it never EVER involves Jim Davidson again!

That's 'cause they didn't. I watched bits of it on a documentary. As far as I know, the whole show has never been aired.
